Dinner was a trip....

Literally. As Nicole said, we had "special mushroooms" for dinner last night. Our original plan was to head downtown via limo bus for an industry new year party, but instead we meandered to Club 710 (formerly Blind Melons) for a friend's band debut. The first band was good, the second (Yesterday's Paper)....was quite a show, but not so much a show of talent.... So we decided to head to The Shack (from here on out known as the watering hole) for a final drink before we head home. It could have been an early night, but what fun would that be? We met a guy, Jarrod, who had some mushrooms at his house. Nicole and I take off thinking we would actually come back to the bar, but Jess & Deanna are wise to our game by now, and followed us out. We all eat, and decide to hang out at Jarrod's and play with his snakes. Not snake, snakes. Two babies and one medium sized python of some sort.

Here's where the night gets interesting: "Trippin' Nicole". As Jess called it, she was "like a five-year old at Disney for the first time." Trippin' Nicole ROCKS! We started out by watching the Incubus "Live at Red Rocks" DVD. This is highly suggested! Deanna and Jess leave for 10 minutes, but every minute and a half, Nicole, amused by the snake, says "They've been gone a LONG time." It was very cute. Even better, was losing the snake in the side of poor Jarrod's chair and having to cut the fellow out. Maybe you had to be there.....

Jess and Deanna finally arrive back at Jarrod's and reveal that they drove home to get some sweatshirts. Nicole replies "You know how to get home? That such a long way!" (We are a few blocks down the street). Jess is ready to go home, so we head back, Jarrod in tow. We arrive at the Casa de Windansea when it dawns on me that I have forgotten my purse. I think I am clever, but at 2 AM tripping with your roommates, nothing is clever. Deanna wants to know where I am going. I reply--I'm going back to Jarrod's to get my purse.

Deanna:"You're going to walk all that way?"

Macie: "No, I'm not THAT stupid--I was going to steal Nicole's Car and drive."

I didn't think she would notice....

Upon my return, we decide to watch the AFI Live DVD. For the first time I understood everything Davey had to say! The night faded, and I woke up to a note from Jarad, and 4 hours late for work. Nice.

Mushrooms make an excellent addition to any meal.

Sweet Closure

Since it's been a while since the four of us have caused any major mischief I'll defer to an older story, previously not posted on myspace or the like.

Have you ever been in love and just KNOWN the other person didn't feel the same? I dated a boy we'll call Roy...and I knew it just wasn't mutual, but I fought it for a little while. He sort of won me over with a witty charm that I have since found unmatched. Shortly after a year of dating and we split, I do believe he fell in love with another girl. It was painful, and I was nothing short of crazy for a drunken moment in time when I found out.

A year after we split and shortly before Vegas this year (there will be blogs detailing our Vegas debauchery) I went to a Veruca Salt concert with Eve & Jess. Roy got us into the show. After a few vodkas, Eve decides I should thank him for the tickets to the show instead of ignoring him. I do, we talk for a little while, and he wants me to come home with him. I haven't really had the "I miss him" feelings for a long time, but I am quite sure that at least I can have a "comfortable" post-breakup hookup. I leave with him, and glory be, when I woke up the next day, I didn't miss him, and quite frankly couldn't figure out why I dated him in the first place. I'm not sure which was better: the closure or the orgasm.

Vicious Circle--the Christmas blog

Every holiday, my sister and I go round and round in the same circle. Somehow, I seem to get exactly what I want, while she somehow does not. This year, she got upset, said that the holidays aren't about family anymore, and that they are all about the gifts, and in the next breath said that she was upset because I went shopping with my mom to pick out what I wanted and knew some of what I was getting. She would have done the same if she knew she could. Conflicting....

Then, she got upset at my brother because he wanted to go see his friends who are leaving in a week to go to boot camp, and Christmas day would be one of the last times he'd get to see them for a year. She said it should be about "family". The same day, we drove to El Cajon to drop off a girl (who is underprivileged, so it was a nice act) to her aunt's. This was sort of conflicting with what she said, but then later got really upset because we were late getting home from my grandma's (whose last Christmas this may be) and she wanted to go pick up another underprivileged girl with CF and bring her over to the house. Now I know her freaking bleeding heart has good intentions, but it shouldn't discredit my brother's feelings from wanting a little time away from the family who he sees all the time to visit his friends before they go.

All this from the only one in the family who spent the entire time we were playing games text messaging friends and complaining about something. Bah, humbug!

Now that I've vented, I do believe the other girls had a lot of fun--the "very asian christmas" at our house was successful. You see, Nicole and Deanna, who "don't quite make a whole asian, but can cook sushi like no other" invited Bill over since those three weren't going home for Christmas and cooked sushi. I can't vouch for all of the events, but I did see one very drunken wrestling video where Nicole and Deanna couldn't really decide who was pinning who, and the game "sorry" appeared from somewhere (Bill probably turned it into a drinking game).

We will be having some post Christmas fun that I will be sure to blog about very soon! And let's not forget the fantastic four will be in Tahoe for New Year. Trouble is bound to follow.

'Tis the season for stupidity

Dedicated to Nicole, a loyal and avid reader.
After lunch at the mall today, Nicole and I stopped by the Verizon booth with two very specific purposes. Nicole's phone stopped working this morning, and I needed a notification turned off. The customer service rep who looked at Nicole's phone attempted to turn it on and after failure informed her that a red dot under the battery indicated water damage. The occurance of this water damage is still a mystery, however, Nicole asked if the rep could transfer the numbers from her new phone to her old one. After another failed attempt, the rep informed her that he could not transfer the numbers, but if she could turn the phone on, he could do so. Nicole's response: "If I could turn the phone on, I wouldn't need to transfer the numbers."
My turn. Simple request. My phone is receiving a text message as a "courtesy" (which I contend is not a courtesy, rather a nuisance) every time I send a text message to a non-verizon wireless customer. Before I really ask anything the rep responds "Yes, that is a notification. You can call customer service." To which I respond "Do you know how to turn it off?" I may have looked annoyed, but since I can't see myself, I don't know. Nicole however, said exactly what I was thinking: "We know it is a notification. We need to know how to make it stop" (I'm paraphrasing a bit).
The service rep: "Let me rephrase. I don't know anything about it."
There is an age old saying that applies: " THINK before you speak."
High fives for an entertaining lunch break!

The Holiday party

I realize my posts are a little behind...I've been at a client all week and I can't write blogs at work while I'm there =( (although I really shouldn't be in the office either). It was at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, and I may have been slightly duped into exposing a bit more cleavage than necessary.Although we all know there's only two ways to the top, and I'm definitely not sucking up....

(That's a joke...get over it)

I went with a friend of mine, Bill, because I know he can have a good time. Let me just recap the highlights of the night:

1) Telling a Sr. Manager I used the Mary Kate and Ashley curling iron to do my hair.

2) Bill and I choreographing dance moves to "Here I go again", only using actual gestures.

3) Saying "I wish these chairs had wheels." To which Bill replied "They do."

4) Being kissed by another guy (who had a date) in front of Bill (my date).

5) Asking a newly divorced partner to come to Jack's with us.

6) Paying $60 for a cab ride home. Passing out on the way? Priceless.

7) Dancing at ALL at a work function to "Ain't no Thang."

Ah, the holiday spirits....

Conspiracy Theory

I like cereal, a well known fact to those closest to me. I bought Sugar Smacks at the grocery store, and in a quick regression to age 8, I read the back of the cereal box while eating. Usually it is a maze, or some sort of other fun breakfast adventure. Instead, I was forced to read corporate America's lame attempt to take over what parents don't do, teachers & schools rarely do, and the government wants to do: educate on morality.
The Cliff's notes version: Dig 'Em accidentally breaks a windshield playing hockey with a friend. Friend attempts to persuade Dig 'Em that he should leave, DE leaves note instead. Angry man runs to DE, asks what happened, the truth is told. What happens? The man finds the truth refreshing, and tells DE not to worry about the smashed in windshield.
I have two problems--actually, make it three--with this story. First, it is setting up children to think that by doing the right thing they will be rewarded. A child can't comprehend that reward doesn't mean mommy and daddy being upset, the man probably staying upset and making mommy and daddy pay, and a complete lack of consequence for telling the truth. I don't believe that the truth goes unrewarded, but not necessarily in a consequence free fashion as Kellog's suggested. Second, I like mazes and comics. Third, do we really need another mass entity attempting to do what our parents don't? "Sit down kids, and read the cereal box. You might learn something."

Hurricane Euromullet

While walking to the mall for lunch today, I noticed a fellow I see almost every day, presumably who works at the Jeanery. This fellow has a mullet. Earlier this year at an Anberlin concert, I noticed a strange phenomenon on the radar: the reappearance of the mullet. 3 of the 5 band members were rocking this evil trend. A coworker who went to Europe this summer informed me that the mullet has actually taken some of the other, more fashionable, nations by storm.

I don't mind the occasional "extra hair" squall, but don't break my achey breaky heart. I don't want to see the mullet hit the US Doppler. I rather hope that this short outbreak of mullet-fever reaches only the coast for a hot second and then disappears. Now, I know it rains a lot in the southern states, and the mullet is forecasted to be pretty heavy at any and all NASCAR related events and a few dive bars across the nation. However, it should, by no means hit anywhere near Los Angeles or New York City for fear of creating a national disaster zone of unnecessary hair.

Precautions that can be taken:

Keep scissors handy at all times.

Any friend who insists on attempting the euromullet should be drugged and immediately taken to a nearby stylist.

Next time you've got the rainy day blues, opt for highlights.

If you are in a position of influence, start a new trend that doesn't remind me of seeing Wal-Mart shirts with "3"s and "24"s blasted across the front and holes in the armpits.

And if you happen to hear of Hurricane Euromullet coming nearby, board your windows and doors and don't leave until it's all over.

Scissors, money, and fashion magazines as dontations for the "Hurricane Euromullet" prevention program can be sent to the Red Cross. I can assure you 95% of these donations will be used for administration.

So many questions.....

I didn't actually write this series of questions and I only wrote the answers in purple, but I find the thoughs of my close friends and roommates hilarious. You see, last night we had a "gift-exchange" at our house that was actually an excuse to get drunk on a weeknight. 15 girls fighting over gifts, followed closely by a bottle of Jager we found. Enjoy.

"
Why did Reed ride 3 miles to hang out with us for an hour and then pass out on the couch only to annoy me with his snoring all night? Because he thinks our hotness will rub off on him. Or maybe that we will be so drunk he may actually get lucky. NO CLUE.... and then make me even more late because I have to drive him home... which is in the opposite direction of my office!!! The better question is why doesn't he at least have hot friends to bring?

Why did Nicole crash on the couch and why does she sleep with her hands sticking straight up in the air as if she was going "whoo-hoo"? The couch is a much more comfortable to sleep on when you are wearing all of your clothes. I am a very happy sleeper, and I was very excited to not be in public anymore. Because that was drunk Nicole and even asleep she is very excited to be here!!! Drunk Nicole is an alter-ego, and she does not leave until the alcohol dissipates.

Why did I mix antibiotics and wine and decide screaming at everyone in a bar was a good idea? We are alcoholics. It is in our nature. You can try to fight it, but you will fail. b/c for anyone else medicine and alcohol make a fun combo, but it turns you into Evil.... we should have gotten you high.. then we could have played with cupcake... I haven't seen her since Ben Harper... haha. For the same reason I mixed Zoloft and alcohol and passed out at 11--to see what would happen.

Why did Nicole decide walking home and getting a ride from a stranger was a good idea? I was too drunk to be in public. The girl was hot, I thought I might get lucky. I was wrong, but it did save me a few minutes and my feet a lot of pain. b/c drunk Nicole needed to remove herself from the public and then the public followed her and offered her a ride b/c she is that cool! Because Nicole now lives with me, and apparently the Houdini disease has been passed to her.

How did Reed get home this morning? Jess took him home. I tried to hide so he wouldn't ask me. I was an hour late to work already. see answer to question 1 I believe Jess took him home.

Where is my vibrator and wallet from the exchange? I stole it. Joe did not answer my drunk calls last night so I had to take mattters into my own hands. When I got home the packaging was on the table but there wsa no vibrator.... MACIE? I have been known to sleepwalk....
Why was it out of the package this morning? It would be hard to use if it was still in the package. Macie? Nicole? Please see answer above.
Did Reed use it? He tried, but I got to it first. hahaha... no it was out of the package when we got home from Jacks Dear God, I hope not.
Why didn't Macie come out with us when she doesn't have to be at work until 10am? She passed out early. She must have been broken. b/c she planned to steal your vibrator! I made a drunk dial call to a friend and never left the comfort of my bed. I did take the time to pull the first nightgown out of my drawer I found instead of PJs and woke up looking like one of the desperate housewives.

Why did I have the bad fortune this morning of running into Max in the courtyard while my face was all red with allergies, holding my bra in one hand, and an empty vibrator package in the other? I hear the it is a hot look nowadays. Sometimes I try to pull it off myself, but I can't. hahahah... that's just funny! I wish I had been there for that....

WHY on a Thursday so I can feel like shit for the next 8 hours?!! It is a test of human strength. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Soon, we will be super-people. Our power will be to be able to outdrink anyone and still look hot the next day (hot is very subjective) b/c is sounded like a good idea. That is the Jager's fault...I'm telling you all that sugar makes for a shitty day the next day...

I have some questions....

Why do I feel the need to use my phone after copious amounts of alcohol? I have never understood this phenomenon...never have I thought it a good idea to call or text when I am drunk...I am not nearly that talented to dial or spell when drunk. You better defer to Jess on this one. She's a major offender. Because drunk dialing is just fun.

Why do I call the same person more than once and leave messages like "There's this girl here. She has boobs....kinda like mine. And she has an ass....kinda like mine. And she really wants to fuck the shit out of you. But you're not here, so I guess she'll just have to think about you while she takes care of herself." I hope your dad knows you were drunk and you apologized to him this morning for leaving such a message. Because drunk Nicole took over, and Joe made the mistake of mentioning how he likes your drunk dials.

Why do I go out to a bar only to walk home in 15 minutes? We told you we were going to a strip club and when you found out we were at a lame bar, you bolted to see if you could pick up some random ass on the street. Because your party-like-a-rockstar ego is out of shape.

Why did some random girl offer to give me a ride? She was not random. You flagged her down by flashing her and rubbed her boobs for a ride home. Thatta girl! She probably thought you had connections to Santa.

Why did I wear my Santa hat out? Because your elf hat did not match. Holiday Drunk Nicole?

Why can't I use my superpower to make it to work on time? You can but since you've probably already used it 5 times, it doesn't work anymore. And for that matter, why don't I look hot? Alcohol only makes you look hot while you're drunk...while sober...it's less likely. Because the superpower doesn't mix with alcohol??And for that matter, why don't I look hot? Totally different superpower.

Why can I remember seeing music, but not remember anything else about being at the bar? That was a dream. Everyone was naked too and my boobs were huge but you failed to mention that part. Because you were focused on getting home.

Why did they let me into a bar? You gave the bouncer a lap dance and we told him there was more where that came from if they let us all in for free. Sometimes bouncers get bored & like to be entertained.

Who lets me leave the house? All of us. We "drunk girls" must stick together. The better the chance that you will do something embarrassing so my behavior looks normal. It wasn't me!

It's not my fault, I swear!

The curb snuck up on me. It's not nice to trip someone Tonya Harding style in the middle of a busy downtown intersection while presumably every hot boy in San Diego is leaving the bar. Before I knew it, I was doggy style on the pavement in a Bebe holiday dress. I suffered only a (possibly) broken toe, a few scrapes and bruises on my left knee and elbow, and of course, slight mortification. Did this stop me from partying like a rock star? Of course not. I simply limped around sans shoes for the rest of the night and finally went to bed around noon on Saturday.
As for the rest of the weekend, Papa John's Superman pizza is a wonderful cure-all for extreme hangover and protein depletion. Getting to see Cobra Starship, Jack's Mannequin, Panic! at the Disco, The Living End, Unwritten Law, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, and AFI in the same 48-hour span was musically orgasmic, but rough on the single girl with no hope of sexual activity on the horizon. I <3 rockstars. I fucking <3 rockstars who wear eyeliner. If you can whip a mic chord on stage-please call me. Seriously. (Oh, and my apologies for the random texts/calls). Rockstars make me a little manic.
I did, however, advance to the second round in the playoffs for my fantasy football league. Woo hoo! And, Tower Records is going out of business. The end of the world as we know it, but the beginning of a whole new cd collection for me. 19 cds: $85. Score!
I am at work with one flip flop and one dress shoe, and half of the braincells I had last week. Which means: I should really start working now in hopes I can function by noon.
Happy Holidays.

My first confession

The stories I post are true events, and none of the names have been changed because we all think our lives could be made into a movie. Or a really good novel. I just like to write things down. It's a diary of the funny things that happened to me. Or things I think. I live with three girls in a house in La Jolla, CA. I will continue to daily post an old blog until I've run out, unless I come up with something new to say. For now, I have to study. Damnit.
